One thing that's great

about having a 20" TV with no cable and tinfoil on the rabbit ears as the only television in the house is that when you visit friends and relatives with the giant hi-def home theater thing, it's like a night at the movies.

Still, when you're done oohing and aahing over the DVD's and the stuff on cable that you never get to see, the most popular channel is always that dumb screen with all the channel listings.

Freedom of choice is what you got.
Freedom from choice is what you need.

Big Muffins

Well, I’m a little late in getting back to this and it’s a lot late for me to be getting back to it right now. But a promise is a promise so here goes.

Got in at 11 last night from our annual Thanksgiving pilgrimage to Florida. Pretty much the same as always (not that I’m complaining, mind you). Tasty muffins and hi-def movies at my sisters’ place, the movies being “Pan’s Labyrinth” and “Transformers” and the muffins being Poppy Seed and Orange/Cranberry. Gifts for the kiddies and the beloved turkey dinner at my Mom’s plus the always entertaining late November dip in her development’s pool. And we wrapped it up at my Dad’s condo with the requisite German beer, balcony crosswords, and walks on the beach.

Not too shabby.

Too bad it involves two 10-12 hour roadtrips in holiday traffic along some of the most boring highways this side of the Mississip. Speaking of wrapping it up, I need to get to bed so here is one highlight of the freeway fun.

11pm at a dubious gas station in north Florida with a few characters laughing it up in the parking lot. This must have been a milltown because everything reeked. Liam and I are shuffling into the restroom and Liam says “My nose can’t wait to get back into the car!”
